10/20/05 Betty Dylan on Tomato Records?
I hope we passed the audition! After being slightly wined and dined, we auditioned for Tomato Records at the Chelsea Hotel in New York City. The plan is for us to record an acoustic album at Willie's studio in Texas with Townes Van Zandt's backing musicians. If we sign with Tomato, we'll have a lot of kewl dead label-mates such as Albert King, T-Bone Walker, Muddy and Townes. Stay tuned....

Betty Dylan hosts The Go Plug Yourself Variety Show at the Sutler
Think George & Gracie or Regis & Kelly with an Andy Warhol twist. Dan & Vickie, better known as "Betty Dylan", host The Go Plug Yourself Variety Show sitting on a couch on stage with their guests who chat with them and perform a couple of songs each. Betty Dylan introduce and interview each invited guest as well as perform.
In addition to great songwriters and singers (yes, you can be one or the other if not both), guests may also include comedians, short indie film directors, entertaining experts of some kind or another, and other unusual entertainers.
The "talk show" format allows Dan and Vickie to do what they do best, use the element of spontaneity and openness to not only entertain and interact with the performing guests, but with the audience itself who are all but invited to add their two-cents to the conversation as well.
Sit back and be entertained, or be part of the entertainment itself. Sure, there's the possibility that things could get out of hand, but Dan and Vickie are adept at minding the helm and keeping things moving along. The monthly show continues to enjoy a growing audience.
Once per month from 7:30pm sharp - 9pm. FREE ADMISSION. The Sutler, 2608 Franklin Pike, Nashville, TN. Tel: (615) 292-5254 Check the Gigs Page for dates.

East Nashville Roots Rock Scene goes to Farm Aid
One of Middle Tennessee's best alt-country roots rock bands, Betty Dylan, is taking the East Nashville roots rock scene to FARM AID 2004.
Betty Dylan is the alt-country husband/wife duo, Vickie and Dan Dubelman, known for being banned from the legendary Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. One of the couple's dreams was to someday play at Farm Aid. While searching the internet, they stumbled upon a new web site, TalentMatch.com, which seemed to be the only place to submit a band for the prestigious event. So they joined. A few days later, Betty Dylan received a phone call with the news that they had won the coveted headlining spot on the second stage at FARM AID.
On September 18th, Betty Dylan will join Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews who are hosting Farm Aid at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, WA near Seattle. The duo will be backed by Fugitive Glue band member Mike Webb, who has played on many of the alt-country albums to come out of Nashville over the last 15 years including Allison Moorer, Stacey Earle, Amy Rigby, Pinmonkey, and many others. Also backing Betty Dylan will be drummer, Rick Schell best known for his efforts with Poco, Pinmonkey and Pure Prairie League.
As co-hosts of Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot every Thursday night in East Nashville, Betty Dylan along with fellow roots rock band and co-hosts, Fugitive Glue, are quickly creating a scene. Weekly guest artists at Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot include local talent as well as touring bands such as multi-Grammy award-winner Pete Anderson who will appear on September 23rd with a new artist he is producing, Moot Davis. Local stars such as Brian Waldschlager, Ned Van Go, Mary Alice Wood, and Tim Carrol also plan to appear as regulars.
This talented group of cooperative artists have formed an informal collective, and the goal is simply to bring the positive energy from touring back to the community by playing some good music, letting loose and having a good time (watch out for flying peanuts!) It's a world where today's Gram Parson would stop by for a drink, a sandwich and a laugh. This year, the East Nashville roots rock scene is bringing that spirit to Willie Nelson's FARM AID.

Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot kickoff erupts into Dancing and a Peanut Fight
The first Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot show erupted into a playful peanut fight Thursday night in East Nashville. Candles lit the street as you entered the club, tins of peanuts and a western-themed backdrop helped create the mood. Co-hosted by two of Middle Tennessee's best alt-country and roots-rock bands, Betty Dylan and Fugitive Glue, the night brought back the playful spirit of rock and roll with a touch of outlaw sensibility.
Every Thursday starting in September, Roots Rock Night will feature touring bands such as multi-Grammy award-winner Pete Anderson with a new artist he is working with, Moot Davis, on September 23rd. Local stars such as Brian Waldschlager, Ned Van Go, Mary Alice Wood, and Tim Carrol also plan to be regularsThe Nashville music scene is associated with the best country musicians, world-class songwriters, and high production quality. Thursday's Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot provides all that, but is more about having fun. It's a world where today's Gram Parson would stop by for a drink, a sandwich and a laugh. A talented group of cooperative artists have formed an informal collective, and the goal is simply to have fun and play some good music.
Something even stranger than the playful peanut fight happened at the Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot kickoff in Nashville - people danced to the sweet country rock, and for a second we were all innocent again.
Thursday nights in September catch Roots Rock @ The 5 Spot, 1006 Forrest Avenue in East Nashville. 9 p.m. $5 cover.

Betty Dylan's Abdicate the Throne CD Enfuriates Fans
Abdicate the Throne is the title of Betty Dylan's latest release and has already created a stir amongst fans of the band. While on tour promoting their new album, Betty Dylan announced they would play at a "Beat Bush" rally which prompted several fans to request that they be deleted from the band's email list. Lead singer, Vickie Dubelman, was surprised. "I know not everyone agrees with us all the time, but it seemed a little extreme if you've liked our music in the past. We're not one-dimentional," she says.
But it's not only the fans who were put off. "I even sent a copy for review to a small music magazine that caters a bit more to the country side of music and they took the time and spent the money to actually put the CD into a larger envelope and mail it back to us unopened. They could have easily just tossed it in the garbage without a word! It really displayed a lot of anger on their part. That's how fueled up people are about this upcoming Presidential election. Funny thing is, yes we have our opinions, but the music is still worth listening to and not every song is about the fu*&^$g President. It's actually a lot deeper than that."

TWO LEGENDS, BERNARD PURDIE AND CAROL KAYE, TEAM UP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY TO RECORD BETTY DYLAN'S SECOND CD, "FLAME"!
Betty Dylan has brought together two legendary musicians, Bernard Purdie (drums) and Carol Kaye (bass) to record their follow up CD even before their first book and CD project, "American Trash...14 Songs and a Book", is released. Tentatively entitled "Flame", Betty Dylan's sophomore release will feature a screenply and full-length CD and may be out by the end of the year. Keep your eyes on this site and on MP3.com as rumor has it that a free pre-release mp3 may make it's way online before summer! Betty fans will be pleased with the intense poetry, passion and musicality that both of these albums exhibit.
